Brain Injury and Neuro-Diagnostics

Since the early 1990’s, qEEG has been used in the diagnosis of minimal traumatic brain injury. QEEG compares an individual’s current EEG signature (electrical wave lengths) with that of a database of normal EEG signatures.

The difference in the signatures is expressed in terms of a Z score, or degree of deviation from the normal, and is very helpful in distinguishing subtle changes in the anatomy as well as the processing function of the human brain. These signatures can discriminate for (identify) mechanical head injury and diffuse axonal injury, (which may occur with the twisting and shearing forces of traumatic head injury). Due to the precise nature of these signatures, the analysis has a sensitivity and specificity of over 95% accuracy.

By combining QEEG with cognitive testing we can determine even greater accuracy as to what brain systems may not be functioning at optimal levels.

NeuroCodeX®  is a complete brain function analysis system that integrates classic neuro-psychological measures with modern neuro-electric brainwave activity technology, personal cognitive abilities testing, brain development, brain function performance and brain systems connections and then compares those measures against normalized databases in order to determine brain dysfunction. The analysis utilizes evidence-based instruments and tools in order to define as precisely as possible an individual’s brain function.

Upon completion of the NeuroEval assessment and NeuroCodeX® analysis, a full report (Report of Findings) is generated based on the brain measurements. Reports generated by the NeuroCodeX® analysis method are targeted towards answering specific neuro-physiological questions within targeted populations for head trauma and other brain injuries.
